This workshop is a full comprehensive introduction to the art Modern Calligraphy, geared towards calligraphy novices.
Participants will learn:
Proper pen handling and calligraphy posture, including warm-up exercises
Care and cleaning of writing tools
Tips and tricks for various types of ink and paper
The eight basic strokes that form the foundations of the Latin alphabet
A full script alphabet (upper and lower cases), including variations for common letters
Practice tricky letter connections
Beginner flourishing tips
Complete a personalized final project
All materials will be included for use during the workshop. Customized kits can be created so that participants may keep their supplies.
Pointed Pen Calligraphy
(Recommended length: 3 Hours)
This workshop is a full introduction to the art of Pointed Pen calligraphy, geared towards students familiar with calligraphy tools and practices, who may have taken a brush lettering class in the past.
Participants will learn:
Proper pen handling and calligraphy posture, including warm-up exercises
Care and cleaning of writing tools
A full script alphabet, that can be taught at a somewhat accelerated pace, including common letter variations and tricky letter connections and combinations
Beginner flourishing tips
All materials will be included for use during the workshop. Customized kits can be created so that participants may keep their supplies.
Watercolor Brush Lettering
(Recommended length: 2 - 3 Hours)
This workshop is ideal for both the calligraphy novice and the pointed pen expert looking to add an additional layer of knowledge to their craft.
Participants will learn:
Watercolor basics

Tips for blending letters and creating gradients across a work of watercolor lettering
